A dead tree covered in Ivy a casualty of yesterdays storms And the Silversmiths Daghter continued ... He came to our door the apprentice with his eyes all emerald and bold His hair shone like beaten copper And we welcomed him in from the cold And I loved him my fathers apprentice For his eyes all emerald and bold And I kissed him and gave myself to him And my dowry more precious than Gold But his heart was harder than Diamond And his soul was blacker than coal And he took my life with a golden knife Where the Mistletoe weeps in the snow He fashioned me into a trinket And boasted of his great new found wealth And believe me my dear gentle sisters Revenge is better in stealth For He thinks I am wrapped round his finger But instead I burn in his soul And splinter his heart hard as Diamond With my dowry more precious than Gold
